Dr Michael Mond graduated from Monash University with Honours in 2001 and subsequently undertook his specialist physician training in Endocrinology at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, Victoria.

He went on to complete a PhD at Prince Henry’s Institute of Medical Research (now Hudson Institute) investigating the role of genetic and other molecular changes in the development and progression of thyroid tumours.

He continued with post-doctoral translational research and developed an Australia-first comprehensive panel to screen thyroid tumours for a range of genetic mutations.

This work was recognised with the prestigious, Bryan Hudson Clinical Endocrinology Award in 2017.

Dr Mond treats a broad range of conditions including Diabetes Mellitus and disorders of the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.

Dr Mond has a particular interest in the investigation and management of thyroid conditions including thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer.

He currently co-leads the Multidisciplinary Thyroid Clinic at Monash Health and is a lead endocrinologist in the Thyroid Clinic at Eastern Health. He chairs multidisciplinary thyroid cancer meetings at both sites. Dr Mond established the Victorian Thyroid Cancer Interest Group which brings together clinicians from a range of disciplines for biannual meetings on topics of interest.
